Thank you for always doing the right thing. For being pure and honest, for being light and calmness. Thank you for raising me, with morals and with music, with melodies and movies. Thank you for always supporting me, for driving me places, having my back in phases, of life, where I find it hard to breathe. Thank you for always believing in me.
I love your smile, your laugh and your sweet eyes. You are golden, with a heart so big, that beats for every little being we’re sharing the earth with. I love to see you being excited about something new you purchased, a new record or a new stereo, most of the time something technological.
Thank you for taking me to the theatre, the zoo and on holidays. For singing with me in the car, with the volume loud, for dancing in silly ways. For watching all the videos of animals on the internet, for making pictures with crazy faces and making me smile whenever I feel sad.
I admire the way you interact with people, with animals and situations. How you are able to stay calm and gentle, while others get mad, you stay patient. I don’t know that much about the time when you were young, I only know it was not easy and the fact you are very strong.
Thank you for being compassionate with me, for ditching fish and meat, for being so open-minded and kind, for teaching me lessons and giving me answers, without you I would never find.
Thank you for always bringing me home safely, for fixing all that’s broken, for keeping your arms wide open. I love laughing with you, like I love spring. I love the jokes only we understand, thank you for always listening. You know I’m still waiting for the day you sing “Hey Soul Sister” with no mistakes. And I do promise we’ll record a song together one day.
Thank you for teaching me right from wrong, how to be kind and compassionate to all. Thank you for showing me empathy, the good in the bad, the light in the darkness, the right way to be. You never judge a book by its cover, you never insult or curse at an other. I never met a man, so sweet and soft, so understanding and wise, so full of love.
I love this home, you made me grow up in. I love every pet, every little soul you let in. Thank you for working so hard, for earning all the money to make this family wealthy and healthy. Thank you for being valuable, for society and for the world. For supporting charities, for caring about people you will not ever meet.
I love the fact you’re not following ‘the crowd’, for being yourself and authentic, for letting your truth speak so loud. Maybe I’m just a loner, just like you. But I see it as a good thing, it keeps us true, to ourselves and the things we love to do the most. Please stay weird and crazy, because in this way I like you best. I can add a few thousand lines, a couple of hundred more rhymes, to tell you all I love about you, to summarise and memorise things we’ve been through. But I think “I love you” will capture it all, you’re the best dad, I could ever have.
